DEKA Announces New Team‑Based Fitness Format — DEKA IGNITE Launches in Manchester This July
DEKA — the functional fitness brand behind the ever‑growing DEKA FIT, MILE and STRONG series — is launching a brand‑new team challenge in the UK. DEKA IGNITE will make its debut on 24th July 2026 at Manchester Central, bringing a fresh, collaborative twist to hybrid racing.
Born from the same “test, improve, repeat” ethos that built the DEKA brand, IGNITE is designed to be accessible to all levels while still offering a fierce competitive edge. This time, the focus isn’t on individual effort — it’s all about teamwork, strategy and shared grit.
What Is DEKA IGNITE?
DEKA IGNITE is a four‑person team event available in female, male and mixed categories. Over a 90‑minute time cap, teams must complete all 10 DEKA Zones, linked together by 500m runs that require tactical planning.
- The first and final 500m must be run together as a full team
- During the middle rounds, two athletes run while two stay in the zone, working through the movements
- Zones include trademark DEKA stations such as:
- weighted lunges
- rowing
- RAM movements
- the popular Tank push and pull
- and more
The format blends functional strength with endurance strategy, creating a fast, team‑driven experience that stands apart from traditional hybrid races.
Why Launch IGNITE in the Workplace Sector?
DEKA is positioning IGNITE as a corporate wellness initiative, aiming to support mental and physical health through movement and shared achievement.
Emily leRoux, DEKA Vice‑President, says:
“DEKA IGNITE is about the power of collective effort and the strength found within a community. We’re excited to launch in Manchester and give organisations a way to put employee wellness first and build stronger, more connected teams.”
With workplace burnout on the rise and remote workers often feeling disconnected, DEKA sees IGNITE as a practical and energising way for companies to rebuild engagement and morale.
From Local Gyms to Global Arenas
DEKA IGNITE aims to slot naturally into the existing DEKA ecosystem:
- DEKA Affiliate gyms deliver grassroots competitions and community engagement
- Larger venues like Manchester Central host arena‑style events for hundreds of athletes
- Every participant earns a finisher medal representing their own journey, progress and commitment
It’s not just about finishing a race — it’s about recognising the work that got you to the start line, and the team that helped you get across the finish.
What This Means for UK Hybrid Athletes
The UK hybrid space is exploding — and IGNITE adds a completely new dimension. Instead of racing solo, athletes will need:
- Communication
- Pacing strategy
- Clever team distribution of workload
- A shared approach to fatigue and zone management
Expect IGNITE to attract DEKA veterans, HYROX athletes looking for something different, and plenty of newcomers from corporate teams dipping their toes into hybrid fitness.
